Having completed the investigation, a matter has been referred to the Rights Commissioner. What do I do?
The role and the remit of the Rights Commissioner comes under the auspice of the Labour Relations Commission, full details are available on their website.
Normally, when a date has been set for a hearing, both parties are expected to prepare a written submission at the hearing. Having heard both sides, the RC may either seek to facilitate a settlement between the parties or issue a recommendation.
If either party is unhappy with the outcome, it may be appealed by either side to the Labour Court.
